Watch for Frazier’s Latest Mast Arm Installation Updates

Frazier Signals begins Mast Arm Installation Project

This past week, Frazier Signal Technologies built two mast arms for a project on Union Street in Bangor.

Whenever possible, we prefer to assemble these at our shop. Doing so allows us to lay out the signals and signage per plans while addressing any custom modifications that may be needed before mast arm installation. This limits our time spent over traffic which means less impact to drivers. It’s a win-win!

We should be “flying” these later this week so be on the lookout for photo updates!

Upgrading Fort Kent’s Traffic Signals: Key Project Insights

One of our recent projects took Frazier Signal Technologies to the historic town of Fort Kent — the “0-mile” starting point of Route 1, stretching all the way to Florida.

We were honored to be invited by LaJoie Electric and Control Service to assist on their Maine DOT project, upgrading two key intersections in downtown Fort Kent.

Lynn Frazier and Rick Smith worked their magic inside the traffic cabinets, while DJ Cox and I handled the installation of signal equipment on the mast arms.

We were thoroughly impressed with the crews’ teamwork — especially witnessing a coordinated two-digger-truck lift of a 40-foot mast arm. Peter LaJoie truly embodied the saying “where there’s a will, there’s a way” as he and his team expertly navigated traffic, communication lines, and other challenges to get the job done safely and efficiently.

Thank you to everyone at LaJoie Electric and Control Service for the collaboration and hospitality.

Wishing all crews a safe and productive week ahead!

Night Work for New Intersection in Edgecomb, Maine

It’s been a few weeks since Frazier Signal Technologies shared an update.

Normally, we like to post weekly—showcasing the projects we’re tackling or highlighting the accomplishments of our team.

Lately, it’s just been nonstop—one project rolling right into the next.

Traffic Signal Installation in Edgecomb ME

One of our main focuses has been our overnight traffic signal installation in Edgecomb, ME. We’ve been building out a new intersection for Maine DOT. Because Route 1 stays busy during the day, our crew has been working nights to keep traffic moving safely. It’s been quite the task, but we’re getting close to wrapping it up.

New School Zone Speed Signs Installed at Enfield Station Elementary

This week, Frazier Signal Technologies had the honor of installing new School Zone Speed Signs for Enfield Station Elementary School in Enfield.

While the project was small in scope, it meant a lot to us personally, as our own children will be attending Enfield Station this fall. Thomas and his sister, Abagail, will both be students there.

We’re grateful for the chance to support the safety of students, families, and staff in our community.

If your school or district could use school zone signs installed before the ground freezes—or existing systems updated—we’d be glad to help.

Flashing Beacon Light Installation in Veazie: A Community Effort

Last week, Frazier Signal Technologies was busy in the Town of Veazie, working at the intersection of State Street and Main Street to replace a set of flashing beacon lights. As part of the project, we removed and replaced a utility pole, installed a new service, and completed the flashing beacon light installation.

The original plan was to reuse the old pole at the Veazie Salmon Club as a railing, but unfortunately, it was too far gone to be saved. Thankfully, we had an extra pole from a previous job that turned out to be a perfect fit.

We were honored to help and truly appreciated the kind words from the Veazie Salmon Club in the following message:

“Happy last day of July, Veazie Salmon Club Members!

Our community continues to step up and support our Club with gifts and acts of kindness that we humbly appreciate.

Most recently, through coordination with Town Manager Mark Leonard and the team at Veazie’s own Frazier Signal Technologies, a new telephone pole was donated and installed. The prior pole had rotted out and was an eyesore when driving down the hill into the parking lot.

Frazier Signal delivered the pole to the Club, and we did not expect them to take the time to also cut, notch, and install it.Many thanks to our awesome Town Manager and Frazier Signal Technologies for the generous support!”

Very respectfully,

Your Friends at The Veazie Salmon Club”

Efficient Traffic Solutions: MaineDOT Bridge Project Success

traffic team brainstorming traffic solutions

The Frazier Signal Technologies team recently completed another phase of the MaineDOT Bangor–I-95 Broadway Bridge Project.

This portion of the work tackled a key challenge: maintaining traffic flow while avoiding the high costs and disruption of trenching across a heavily traveled roadway. The solution—directional drilling.

We collaborated with Enterprise Electric Inc., Maine Construction Solutions, Badger and Centerline (utility locators) to install the underground conduit and pull boxes that will serve the new mast arm traffic signals.

All four directional drills were successfully completed during a single overnight shift—each bored 36 inches below the roadway, carefully avoiding existing water, sewer, natural gas, communication duct banks and electrical utilities.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this phase.

We hope you all had a great 4th of July—see you back out there on Monday!

Successful Installation of Traffic Signals on Maine Toll Project

This past week, the Frazier Signal Technologies team made the trip to Saco, Maine for a weeklong installation of mast arms and traffic control equipment.

We were proud to contribute to the Maine Turnpike Authority’s Exit 35 Northbound and Southbound Toll Booth Project. A special thank you to Moulison Heavy Electric for giving us the opportunity to assist with the amazing team making this project happen.

Installation of Traffic Signals

Our scope for this phase included setting multiple mast arms outfitted with traffic signals, emergency preemption systems, and traffic camera hardware.

We’ll be heading back soon to complete a similar installation on the Southbound ramp—and we’re hoping for slightly cooler weather next time!

Enhancing Traffic Safety: Traffic Solutions by Frazier Signal

Traffic signal installation for traffic safety

Traffic Safety

Over the past several weeks, the Frazier Signal Technologies crew has been busy across the state, tackling traffic safety projects big and small.

Recent highlights include collaborations with one of our trusted contractor partners, Maine Construction Solutions.

• In Bangor, we teamed up to install a new traffic cabinet foundation near the Bangor Water Department after the original was damaged in a traffic accident.

• In Hampden, at the I-95 rest area, we relocated a light pole base to reduce the risk of future strikes by large commercial vehicles—a proactive move to enhance safety and reliability.

If you’re in need of construction services, earthwork, or forestry site prep, Maine Construction Solutions (Anthony CoteRussell Hayden) is a name you can trust.

Thanks for following along, and we hope everyone has a great week!

Boothbay Harbor Swing Bridge Project

It doesn’t get much nicer than May weather in Boothbay – Southport Maine!

Over the past few weeks, Frazier Signals had the opportunity to support Cianbro with electrical approach work on the Southport–Boothbay Harbor swing bridge project.

Our team installed two uprights and mast arms with five signal heads, along with wiring the advance warning flashing beacon systems. The warm spring weather was a welcome bonus, even if the tight working conditions kept things challenging.

A big thanks to the Cianbro crew for being both professional and welcoming (and for letting us crash the BBQ!). Wishing you continued success as you wrap up this incredible project—we’re looking forward to seeing the bridge in motion soon!
