It may seem like every project we handle goes off without a hitch—flawless and smooth. Thanks to solid planning and teamwork, most of the time, that’s true. Then there was Monday……..
You might remember our updates about the Traffic Movement Permit at Taco Bell on Hogan Road. We were working on pedestrian facility upgrades, new backplates, and four bimodal signs. These electronic signs display multiple messages, reminding drivers to watch for pedestrians and not to turn right on red. We ordered them back in May. Timing the construction to line up with delivery in July. Once they arrived, we installed and wired them, only to find out the messages were wrong!
Frustrating, to say the least. Fortunately, the client was very understanding, and getting replacements was a quick fix. We reordered and moved on.
The replacements came in, and we scheduled the installation for Monday. But on Monday, we realized the backplates to hold the signs in place hadn’t been shipped.
Cue the panic…
Bad and even worse ideas involving duct tape and Elmer’s glue were briefly discussed. Thank you Jon for stepping in!
Thankfully, our vendor, Signals on the Run, made a few calls. Soon enough, the sales rep from SunriseSESA was driving up from Massachusetts to meet Richard Smith in Portland.
By Tuesday, the final install was complete, right on schedule for the client. Now that’s customer service! Huge thanks to Sean and Rick for your collaboration—we owe you one!
