Troubleshooting Icy Road Warning Sign in Western Maine

This is a fun story from a quick job we completed this week in western Maine, just down the road from Sugarloaf Mountain.

We were called out to Carrabassett Valley to troubleshoot a flashing Icy Road Warning Sign that was no longer communicating with its partner sign further up the road.

One of the signs is located next to the municipal airport and receives almost no cell phone service, which made troubleshooting a bit more interesting. My assignment was to contact TAPCO support and work through the issue.

Thank goodness for the kindness of Mainers. The convenience store about 100 feet away was kind enough to share their internet password—otherwise I would have been stuck driving a half mile up the road just to get a signal to relay any infomation or findings.

It took a little time, but we were able to identify the problem with the road warning sign and get them communicating reliably again—helping keep drivers informed and safe on the road.
